RILKEN S.A. ANNOUNCES HALF YEAR RESULTS OF 2011

In the first half of 2011 the company realized sales of 19,788 T €, a decrease by 2.7% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year (Half Year 2010 20,342 Τ €), still affected by the negative economic conditions of the market.

Gross profit decreased by 3.4% to 11,470 T € (Half Year 2010: 11,874 T €), while as a percentage of sales it decreased by 40 bps to 58.0% (Half Year 2010: 58.4). Apart from the sales decline, gross profit decrease resulted also from higher material prices and the boosted allowances to the market, although it was partial offset by a more favourable product mix.

Operating (administration and distribution) expenses decreased significantly by 6.9% to 10,821 T € in the period under review (Half Year 2010: 11,625 T €), mainly because of the continuous management efforts for cost reductions as well as the higher advertising expenses of the previous year for new product launches. Other operating income amounted to 66 T € (Half Year 2010: 141 T €), while other expenses decreased significantly and amounted to 116 T € (Half Year 2010: 1,100 T €) due to previous year’s higher provisions for bad debts as a direct result from the economic crisis.

For the above mentioned reasons, earnings before interest and taxes recorded a profit of 600 T € against a loss of 711 T € in the corresponding period of the previous year. Earnings before taxes recorded a profit of 591 T € against a loss of 714 T € and earnings after taxes recorded a profit of 343 T € versus a loss of 888 T € in prior half year period. Earnings per share, finally, amounted to 0.10 € (Half Year 2010: -0.26 €).
