SIGNING OF CONTRACT FOR SKIATHOS INTERCONNECTION WITH HELLENIC CABLES 

 

The company “ADMIE (IPTO) HOLDING S.A.” (or “Company”), informs that its affiliate, ADMIE (IPTO) Group, announces that the Skiathos interconnection with the High Voltage System successfully proceeds to the implementation phase, following the signing of the contract for the cable parts by the management teams of  IPTO and the contractor “Hellenic Cables”  on February 21st , 2020 at the Operator's headquarters.

 

The  42.8 million euro contract for the project “Mantoudi- Skiathos” includes the study, supply and installation of a 30km long submarine cable between Skiathos and Evia with a maximum cable laying depth of 400 meters. The second phase of the project involves the construction of a new 150/20 kV GIS Substation in Skiathos, the contractor of which, is the company ABB with a contract of  9.5 million euro.

 

The project, with total consideration of  52.3 million euro, is expected to be completed by the end of 2021, marking the first time that Sporades Islands will be connected with the 150 kV system. As a consequence, the power supply problems of the islands of Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos will be permanently addressed, enhancing the reliability of the System for the summer season.

 

Mr. Μanos Manousakis, Chairman and CEO of ADMIE (IPTO) Group stated: “We are very pleased that another island interconnection project accelerated and proceeds on schedule by ADMIE. This interconnection ensures the power supply, not only of Skiathos island, but also of Skopelos and Alonissos islands. This is a state-of-the-art project, because for the first time, the cable is protected along the entire 29km submarine route.”
