One of the most important contracts in the field of customs has been assigned to INTRASOFT International, SWORD Technologies and ATOS Origin Belgium by the DG "Taxation and Customs Union". The contract concerns the operation and extension of the Internal Market, one for the most important pillars of the European Union.
The contract has a 4-years duration and its budget is Euro 28 mil. The participation of INTRASOFT International is 40%. It is estimated that for the contract implementation 100 professionals - analysts, developers, trainers and others- are needed.
This contract is directly linked with the implementation of an IT customs system, known as "e-Customs". It includes the specifications of the business and technical requirements of the systems that will be implemented by all member-states, as well as the deployment of systems that will be used both by the member-states and the European Commission. Once the e-Customs system will be completed, it will enable the exchange of information between commercial organizations based in one country and other member-states (Single-Point-Of-Contact), as well as the communication with all public authorities through customs (One-Stop-Shop).
It is worth mentioning that the Common Customs Tariff and Common Customs Code are included in the framework of the Internal Market implementation. For this purpose, IT systems of major importance have been installed, many of which have been implemented by INTRASOFT International, such as NCTS and ECS.
