On Thursday, May 4, 2006, ELAIS-UNILEVER corporate presentation was performed in the company's premises in Neo Faliro. The company was represented by Mr. Spyridon Dessilas, President of the Board of Directors and Managing Director. At the beginning of the presentation, Mr. Dessilas made a brief allusion to the international and domestic activities of Unilever Group through the companies ELAIS - UNILEVER, KNORR BESTFOODS HELLAS, ALGIDA and UNILEVER HELLAS. With regard to ELAIS-UNILEVER FY 2005 financial results, Mr. Dessilas stressed out that the company achieved an increase in sales of 3.4%. Despite the fact that a range of consumer goods went through a demand recession, ELAIS-UNILEVER, steadily focused on its strategic choice to allocate high investment funds for the promotion of its products and the introduction of innovations, achieved to maintain and in some cases even increase its market shares. Next, Mr. Dessilas proceeded with a more detailed presentation of the commercial standing of ELAIS - UNILEVER in its product categories. Among others, Mr. Dessilas said that the company preserved a leading position in the market of margarines with the launching of the Becel range of products, as well as in the market of olive oil despite the need for increase in prices and stressed out the exceptionally successful course of the tea and beverages products, the Hellman?s products and the foodsolutions. Regarding the company?s financial results for the financial year 2005 the turnover stood at ? 226.4 mil. over ? 219 mil. in the respective period last year. Finally, earnings after tax in 2005 amounted to ? 23.4 mil. over ? 29.5 mil. in 2004. To be noted that Mr. Dessilas remarked that the financial figures of 2004 include an extraordinary income of ? 4.4 mil. received as an indemnity for the termination of the commercial collaboration regarding the ready to drink Ice tea Lipton. For the year 2006 it was stressed out that the companies of the Unilever Group in Greece are aiming at moving to one head office, while on a commercial level, emphasis will be given on further developing the product portfolio by launching new innovative products. The Management of ELAIS - UNILEVER for the year 2006 remains focused on providing the wider possible coverage of nutritional needs of the Greek family with modern and innovative products. Within this framework, the company will continue to invest on the development and promotion of nutrition solutions which provide added value to the vitality received by end consumers.
