The official and regulated Derivatives Market in Greece was established in 1997 and started operating in August 1999. The organization and support of its transactions is realized by the Athens Exchange (ATHEX), whereas the Clearing House of the Greek Derivatives Market (having the role of the Central Counterparty) is the company ATHEX Clear which belongs to the Hellenic Exchanges Group (HELEX).
Investors can realize transactions in the following derivatives products:

Futures on:

  • stocks
  • indices

Options on:

  • stocks
  • indices

Repos contracts against ATHEX Clear or on another bilateral basis on:

  • stocks which fall under the General segment of the ATHEX securities market and comprise a derivatives' underlying security
  • constituents stocks of an index which comprise a derivatives' underlying security
  • stocks, for which market making is realized or is going to be realized
  • ETF units.
