ELLAKTOR hereby informs the investors that the Joint Venture AKTOR Concessions S.A. – HELECTOR S.A., the members of which are its subsidiaries, has been designated Provisional Private Partner for the project “Design, Financing, Construction, Maintenance and Operation of Infrastructures of the Integrated Waste Management System (IWMS) of the Western Macedonia Region under a PPP” (hereinafter “the Project”), following the decision adopted by the Board of Directors of DI.A.DY.MA.S.A.under ref. 1/172/2013 (Online Publication Number: ΒΛΓ10ΞΦ4-6Ψ3).

The Project relates to the design, financing, construction, maintenance and operation of the infrastructures of the Integrated Waste Management System (IWMS) of the Western Macedonia Region, comprising the following:

  • A Waste Processing Facility with capacity of 120,000 tonnes per annum.
  • A Sanitary Landfill
  • 10 Waste Transfer Stations, 9 of which are existing and 1 (the Kozani Waste Transfer Station) is a new infrastructure under the Project.

Please note that the project includes the technological application of the aerobic treatment of Conventional Waste organic matter, which will be fully undertaken by the internationally recognized Herhof GmbH, a cutting-edge technology provider in the field of waste management, having been granted patents protected by relevant rights, which is also a 100% subsidiary of HELECTORS.A.

The Project is expected to become a milestone at European level, given that:

 (a) it is an integrated – state-of-the-art – technical solution comprising the application of the most modern waste management technologies and the installation of the most modern equipment;

 (b) it complies with the strictest environmental specifications under the European Union law and the requirements laid down in the Tender Documents;

(c) it achieves the maximum recyclables recovery rate (35% by weight in the quantity of Recyclables to enter the Waste Processing Facility) stipulated in the Tender Documents, as well as the maximum biodegradable waste diversion (80% by weight on a wet basis in the Biodegradables from Conventional Waste to enter the Waste Processing Facility), thus maximizing the environmental output.

The total investment amounts to approximately € 46 million. The total duration of the Partnership Agreement is set at 27 years, 2 of which are needed for completing the construction and 25 of which relate to operating the facilities. Upon entry into operation of the Project, the Private Partner will be compensated by reimbursement of availability payments until the termination of the Partnership Agreement.
