The Athens Exchange welcomed the ADMIE Holding company in view of the listing of its shares for trading on the Main Market as of Monday, June 19th.
Giorgos Stathakis, Minister of Environment and Energy, and Iason Roussopoulos, Chairman and CEO of ADMIE Holding, together rang the closing bell during the event held at the Athens Exchange.
Giorgos Stathakis, Minister of Environmentt and Energy, in his address referred to the multiple benefits created from the listing of ADMIE Holding:
"First: An opportunity is presented for all investors to participate in ADMIE, thus supporting its new, ambitious strategic plan for development that includes important interconnection projects of a domestic and international interest, such as the interconnection of the Cycladic Islands and Crete.
Second: Shareholders of the Public Power Corporation (DEH) acquire shares in ADMIE Holding.
Third: One more company opens up to investors.
The government, Mr. Stathakis stressed, chose to retain public control of the regulated monopoly of high voltage electricity networks, this being an asset of national importance for Greece, aiming to secure the country's energy supply. Today's event highlights the addition of the energy sector to the country's opening to strategic foreign investments, as it enters a new stage of growth in the context of the new reality of the European Single Market. Our objective, concluded the Minister, is for Greece to be a strong player in this new energy environment being shaped in Europe".
Mr. Iason Roussopoulos, Chairman & CEO of ADMIE Holding, stated: "The listing of the ADMIE holding shares in the Athens Stock Exchange is part of the plan for keeping ADMIE under the control of the Greek State; its interest, according to the law, cannot drop under 51%. It further reflects the complete unbundling of ADMIE's ownership, putting the focus on its independence and the company's prospects for investments. ADMIE Holding is aligned with ADMIE's mission, which is none other than to secure the country's supply with energy, in a safe, efficient and reliable manner".
The Chairman of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission, Mr. Charalambos Gotsis, further remarked: "Although up to a few days ago, PPC was the sole shareholder of ADMIE, as of this Monday all of PPC's current shareholders will become ADMIE's shareholders. This also means that the Greek State will retain the majority interest of ADMIE, while achieving a broader dispersion for the shares of ADMIE Holding, a fact which will certainly have a positive impact on the secondary trading of its shares.
The Hellenic Capital Market Commission, by approving the relevant prospectus, ensured maximum transparency for the investor public with regard to this transaction, since it is admittedly more complex than other usual initial listings on the Stock Market".
The CEO of the Athens Exchange, Mr. Sokratis Lazaridis, among other things, underlined: "We welcome this company today in the Greek stock exchange market, and would like to wish it every success.
Listing of ADMIΕ Holding on the Athens Exchange, in addition to all other benefits, is of particular significance, since it will be the 26th company of the FTSE/ATHEX - 25 index. This index includes the largest companies under capitalisation of the Greek Stock Exchange, where significant trading activity takes place. Adding this large-sized company to the index will significantly contribute towards attracting investor interest".
