In response to Press articles published today, February 9th, 2007 and referring to a "possible upcoming deal with Pro Bank", PROTON BANK S.A. (hereafter "PROTON") announces the following:
1. The contents of the aforementioned press articles referring to a "possible upcoming deal with PRO BANK" are untrue and being refuted.
2. PROTON, once more, announces that within the strategic framework for its dynamic development, business expansion and reinforced presence in the sector, closely follows and studies all possibilities and forms of cooperation, which may substantially contribute to the materialization of this strategy through the appropriate business actions, which will add value to Proton and its shareholders.
Proton reiterates its commitment, which in any event is its obligation, to provide all relevant information to its shareholders in the event that there are further developments with respect to business cooperation with any domestic or international financial institution or investor.
