Datamed Signs Contract For The Oresteia Project

Athens, October 16, 2001 · DATAMED S.A., a subsidiary of the ALTEC Group (ALTEC GA) (AICr.AT) in cooperation with ALTEC S.A., the coordinator of the project, and other European partners from Italy and the United Kingdom signed a contract with the European Committee for the ?ORESTEIA? Project. This project concerns the design and verification of the operation of electronic micro-devices (artifacts) with built-in intelligence.

These micro-devices are capable of local decision ?making?, adjusting their ?behavior? depending on their holder or their purpose of use, while they will be able to communicate with compatible micro-devices, in order to create a ?community? with enhanced capabilities.

Especially the micro-devices, which through human interaction will be able to be utilized in numerous applications, such as, the assessment of an emergency situation relating to their holder's health, draw more interest. The built-in intelligence of these devices will have the form of earlier experience/guidelines and will be associated with their corresponding activities.

The micro-devices will be able to adjust their ?behavior? and their ?learning? ability, from their operational environment.

This European Union project falls within the framework of the IST program. The project is expected to be completed in 36 months. The contract amounts to 2,614,305 Euro.
