Τhe Board of Directors of Marfin Popular Bank Public Co Ltd after considering the Fairness Opinion from Deutsche Bank decided to recommend to the Shareholders of the Bank to reject the Public Offer by Piraeus Bank.
Furthermore, the Board of Directors has examined the Groups Management Accounts for January 2007, where the Advances have recorded an increase of 4,9% compared to 31/12/2006 and Deposits recorded an increase of 2,8% for the same period. Both the impressive growth of Advances and Deposits in January and the rest of the Groups financial results for the same period lead the Board of Directors to the conclusion that the Profit Guidance that has been given by management in the Business Plan 2007 - 2009 have been especially conservative.
