INTRASOFT International has been awarded the framework contract for the software maintenance relating to the core business systems of the Office for Harmonisation of the Internal Market (OHIM), based in Alicante, Spain. The budget of the contract is 21M Euro, and its duration is 7 years. INTRASOFT International secured the contract after successfully competing with 10 multinational consortia.
As the central point for the registration of trade marks and designs, OHIM receives, examines and registers applications for trade marks and designs in order for them to be protected in the 27 countries of the European Union (EU).
The objective of the contract is to perform services of software maintenance for the Office's core business information systems. At present, the business systems facilitate the business processes associated with the Community Trade Marks, the International Trade Marks, and the Registered Community Designs. An e-Business System has also been deployed supporting e-applications, e-communications, and on-line searching of Trade marks and Designs. These systems are critical to OHIM and visible to a large number of internal and external users.
The contract concerns a large number of applications supporting the proper functioning of OHIM and is expected to involve around 35 software engineers per year. It is a very complex and critical undertaking as it involves multi-site operations and outsourced management in addition to a combination of resources and high availability concerning application development and time-and-means services.
With this contract INTRASOFT International establishes its presence in Spain and strengthens its position in the provision of IT services for the European Institutions and Agencies.
