INTRASOFT International strengthens its position in the Baltics - 3 more eGovernment contracts assigned to the company
Athens, February 21, 2007 - INTRASOFT International, subsidiary of INTRACOM IT Services, has been awarded three eGovernment contracts, of a euro 1.4 million total value, in the Baltic countries.
Specifically, the company has been assigned, following an international tender, a project for the Lithuanian government concerning the implementation of the Lithuanian Exports Control System fulfilling the requirements of the EU. This system will enable the Lithuanian Customs Department to register and monitor all direct and indirect exports according to the Lithuanian export control legislation as well as the EU export control regulation. Moreover, the system will facilitate the exchange of exports-related information with other EU Member-States and it will interoperate with the other national systems producing exports statistics.
In addition, Intrasoft International has undertaken a second project for the Lithuanian government, following a second international tender. This project concerns the provision of the development, maintenance and support services related to the Lithuanian National Transit Control System, facilitating monitoring of transit movements and operations addressing all customs life-cycle procedures and processes.
The third project concerns the implementation of the Latvian Export Control System. Intrasoft International, as a subcontractor of Hewlett Packard Latvia, will implement the core functionality of the system which is similar to the above-mentioned systems in Lithuania. In addition, Intrasoft International''''s Trade Made EasyΘY application will be used to enable the Trade Community to efficiently initiate, manage and monitor relevant export movements.
Those projects will enable the national economic operators and governmental institutions to manage their customs activities in a structured and standardised way. The projects are an important step towards the harmonisation with the current and future EU legislation and will assist considerably the decision-making process regarding control and information management.
It is worth mentioning that Intrasoft International has been delivering projects for both the Lithuanian and the Latvian governments for the past 7 years approximately. The company has a considerable international experience and know-how as well as a long-time successful cooperation with the European Customs Administrations. With the above-mentioned contracts, Intrasoft International renews its contractual relationship with the Customs Departments in the Baltic region, as well as enters the area of National Export Systems (NES).
