PPC completed today the third and last evaluation stage of the two bids submitted on 30.11.06 for the study, construction, and set in operation of a gas-fired power plant of 420 Mwatt maximum power and for the twelve-year maintenance of its gas turbine.
On the basis of the two bids data announced by PPC in an open meeting, METKA was the successful bidder with a guaranteed cost of Euro 62.209/Mwh against Euro 62.530/Mwh by the competitor.
METKA bid presents significant benefits for PPC compared to the competitor''s bid, such as:
1. Euro 750.000/year saving due to lower cost per Mwh generated.
2. Additional Euro 315.000/year revenues due to greater available power by 9Μw.
3. Increased unit integration capacity in the system because of lower operating cost.
Moreover, this new plant presents important benefits for PPC because:
1. It will be the most state-of-the art unit with the latest ALSTOM type technology.
2. It will be the largest natural gas unit power (417 MW).
3. It will have the highest efficiency (57,5%) compared to any other PPC unit in Greece to date.
