MICHANIKI S.A. is declared preferred bidder for ? 63 million Athens 2004 Olympic project.

The consortium MICHANIKI S.A.-EllisDon Constructions Ltd. was declared preferred bidder in a tender for the ?Construction of basketball, handball and fencing Olympic Games facilities in Hellinikon complex?, budgeted at ? 63 million.

The Hellinikon is the sixth Olympic project that MICHANIKI S.A. is taking part in besides the construction of:
- The Olympic Village
- The Olympic Main Press Center
- The Vari-Koropi Highway
- The Olympic Beach Volley facilities
- Road Works around the Athens Olympic Stadium.

From the beginning of the year, the company secured many new construction projects more than doubling the backlog of orders compared with the previous year.

Recently MICHANIKI S.A. signed the contract to build a new Railway Bridge over the Isthmus Canal in Corinth, budgeted at ? 10.7 million. The company is also declared the preferred bidder in another two projects:
- The construction of roadways and of a Drainage Tunnel at the Hydroelectric Power Station (HPS) at Mesochora, central Greece, budgeted at ? 33.6 million, and
- The construction the new water supply pipe of the Steam Power Stations (SPS) of Kardia and Agios Dimitrios, prefecture of Kozani, budgeted at ? 23.2 million.

Yesterday, MICHANIKI S.A. was the first construction company to submit an official application to the Greek Ministry of Public Works for the acquisition of the highest, 7th class, contracting certificate, while in the next few days it will submit a second application for the 6th class contracting certificate.
