NATO AWACS aircraft delivery with the participation of INTRACOM DEFENSE ELECTRONICS
Last week in Munich, NAPMA (NATO Airborne Early Warning and Control Program Management Agency) in cooperation with BOEING have delivered to NATO for operational use the first upgraded AWACS aircraft under the Mid-Term Modernization program in which INTRACOM Defense Electronics participated as well. The Mid-Term Modernization program of NATO AWACS aircraft is a prime example of international industrial cooperation, with the participation of more than 15 main subcontractors from 12 nations. Representatives of NATO nation-members as well as of the industries, amongst them INTRACOM Defense Electronics, have attended the delivery ceremony. INTRACOM Defense Electronics, the only Hellenic industry that participated in the Mid-Term Modernization program as BOEING subcontractor, together with international leaders, has manufactured the intercommunication systems ABU-1 and ABU-2, as well as the electronic consoles of AWACS aircraft operators. INTRACOM Defense Electronics'' successful participation in this program results from its important activities in advanced technology inter-communication systems in the defense field. Within the framework of its participation in the program, INTRACOM Defense Electronics invested resources, by creating important infrastructure and an approved by BOEING quality system (BQMS D6-82479 Appendix A, EN 9100) that has listed the company in BOEING''s certified manufacturers for airspace applications. At the delivery ceremony there was a positive reference to INTRACOM Defense Electronics participation, which has successfully implemented projects worth Euro 7 mil. At the same time, the company has created a considerable suitable infrastructure as well as the necessary prerequisites for further cooperation with BOEING.
