Public Power Corporation's (DEH SA) board of directors declared its intention that Michaniki SA will be awarded the project: ?Construction of the Traffic Tunnel Mesochora-Fragma, the Bridge of N. Pefki and related road-works, Pachtouriou Tunnel and Mesochora Drainage Tunnel?.

Michaniki SA had submitted the best bid in the public tender for this project, budgeted at ? 32,6 million. The Mesochora project includes the construction of a drainage tunnel, of new access roads of 1.500 meters, of a new traffic tunnel 1.000 meter long, and of a traffic bridge spanning for 110 meters.

The time frame for completion of the project is 24 months starting the day of the signing of the contract.

After the conclusion of the project the road traffic to the Arta-Trikala highway will be improved significantly and the hydroelectric power station (HPS) of Mesochora -- which is one of the largest in the country -- will be able to start operations.
