Participation of the ASE to the European research programme EUROSIGNAL

The Athens Stock Exchange in going to participate to a European research programme under the name EUROSIGNAL, which is financed by the European Union.

The objective of this programme is the development of an innovative methodology and software, which will be able to simulate the operation of the stock market in real time. In the frame of this programme, the parameters that affect the values and trends in the Stock Exchanges will be identified, as well as their turning point. Among others, the programme is pursuing the development of a technique of determination of the issue price of newly listed companies in a way that the phenomenon of high fluctuation between the issue price and the current price of the share is avoided.

Apart from the Athens Stock Exchange, the University of London (Imperial College), the University of Gander the economic university of Patras, as well as the companies Network Models LTD and Econet S.A. participate to the joint venture that has been established. The London Stock Exchange will make available the data that will be necessary for the realization of the programme.

The programme, starting from 01.09.2001, will last for three years, while its total budget amounts to Euro 2.6 million.
