Participation in 'IST 2003'European Information Technology conference in Milan, Italy

PC SYSTEMS (PSYST GA) (PCSr.AT), a subsidiary of the POULIADIS GROUP (POUL GA) (POUr.AT) participated in 'IST 2003', the largest European Information Technology conference that took place on October 2-4 in Milan, Italy. The conference included a number of simultaneous events, such as business meetings, granting of European IST awards, exhibitions of innovative technologies, and others. The 'IST 2003' exhibition took place in the premises of SMAU 2003, the second largest international exhibition of Informat ional Technology.

Within the framework of the IST 2003, companies and research institutes of Information Technology and telecommunications from all over Europe had the opportunity to promote innovative technologies and meet with potential partners.

Original information systems with remarkable results were presented, the application of which will positively influence the everyday life of European citizens. The KNOWLABORATION project, which was developed by PC SYSTEMS, was also presented in the exhibition amongst the 75 research projects.

KNOWLABORATION (Knowledge applications for Collaborative Organisational Networks) is an advanced e-learning solution regarding the work environment.

The objective of this specific project is to create an advanced software platform for the management of knowledge and personalized learning procedures, to develop an environment for the cooperation and interaction of users for the re-use of knowledge that facilitates decision taking, especially in the work place, and to formulate methodology regarding the establishment of inter-operational communities with common interests relevant to the contents of learning.

The CITRON Corporate Portal platform of GLOBO TECHNOLOGIES S.A. a strategic partner of PC SYSTEMS will be used for the materialization of the project. The platform addresses organizations that provide training services to a large number of users through intranet, extranet or internet networks.

Apart from PC SYSTEMS, Planet - Ernst And Young, the University of BRIGHTON of Great Britain, the French University INSEAD with the Advanced Technologies Center for Learning - CALT, the Chamber of Commerce of Dublin with the Center of Operational Development - BDC, participated in the project.

Mr. Fragiskos Magafas, the project?s coordinator stated the following: 'The attendance and interest shown by visitors at the KNOWLABORATION kiosk, as well as the positive remarks we received, reward our efforts for the development of innovative systems aiming at the improvement of the life of the European citizens, providing access to significant information and establishing an appropriate infrastructure in order to facilitate the services provided through alternate communication channels'.
