A corporate presentation of S&B Industrial Minerals S.A. on its activities, its investment highlights and the Group's financial results for the first quarter of 2007 was made today, at the Association of Greek Institutional Investors, by the Manager Director Mr Efthimios O. Vidalis and the Chief Financial Officer of the Group, Mr S. Hatzikos.
Mr Hatzikos in his presentation of the three months results, noted that it was a strong first quarter, following a very good previous year. The consolidated sales and operating profits of the S&B Group of companies showed increases of 10.6% (Euro 115.53 million versus Euro 104.49 million) and 11.8% (Euro 11.06 million from Euro 9.89 million) respectively in the first quarter of 2007, compared to the corresponding period of 2006. The net profits of the Group, compromised by higher financial and tax charges, went up by 4.2% to Euro 6.35 million.
Following the Group's financial overview, Mr Hatzikos focused on the Industrial Minerals activities that represent 78% of Group revenue, with leading positions in the markets they serve worldwide, active in more than 20 countries across 5 continents and selling its products in more than 69 countries worldwide. The consolidated sales of these activities in the first quarter of 2007 were increased by 11.4% reaching Euro 94.67 million and the operating profits rose by 8.8%, reaching Euro 10.75 million.
Mr. Vidalis, referring to the Group's growth strategy, emphasized that S&B is proceeding with consistency and steadiness on its strategic axes for dynamic profitable development of its activities and the creation of a long-term, sustainable value for its shareholders. S&B, based on the in-depth knowledge of its customer needs as well as on the company's competitive advantages, aims through organic growth and focused acquisitions to expand in new geographies, in new products and new applications as well as to promote value added "Market-to-Mine" chains.
