These meetings were also attended by the ASE Vice President Mr. Socrates Lazaridis, while executives from the Sales, Market Analysis and Transactions Departments of each firm were also present. The foreign Investment Firms insisted on the necessity of the quick, reliable and equal treatment of the international investors, by each listed Company, as well as on the need of the events of Roadshows on a regular basis in Greece and abroad, organized by each listed Company or Business Sector.

2. On Monday, October 30, Mr. P. Alexakis participated to a Conference that took place in New York, regarding the investment opportunities in Greece and in the wider area of Southeastern Europe. Presentations for the investment opportunities for the Greek Capital Market were also made by the President of the Capital Market Committee Mr. St. Thomadakis, as well as by Mr. El. Papakonstantinou, President of P&K Securities, which was one of the sponsors of the Conference.

3. On that same day, the President of the ASE Mr. P. Alexakis, the President of the Capital Market Committee Mr. St. Thomadakis and other executives from the Greek Business Community met with the President of the New York Stock Exchange Mr. R. Grasso. During this meeting, Mr. R. Grasso accepted the invitation of Mr. P. Alexakis to participate to the event organized by the ASE in the beginning of June 2001, following the upgrading of the Greek Capital Market. To be noted, that the President of Euronext and the European Union of Exchanges, Mr. Z.F.Theodor, as well as the President of the Madrid Stock Exchange and the International Union of Exchanges, Mr. A. Zointo, will also attend this event.

Μr Grasso was briefed by the President of the ASE, about the evolution of the Greek Capital Market, its forthcoming upgrading and the attuned efforts that take place for its expansion in the area of South Eastern Europe, launching new products and co-operations with local Stock Exchanges. Mr Grasso proposed to the President of the ASE that the Greek Capital Market should also participate in the EURONEXT-NYSE coalition and at the same time it should have the management of the South Eastern area of Europe, something that coincides with the development strategy of the ASE, which has already been announced. It has also been agreed that that the ASE will further consider the coalition proposal, whereas it will be in constant contact with the Stock Exchanges that participate in the EYRONEXT-NYSE. Already, within the next week, a representative of EURONEXT will visit Athens, in order to discuss in detail the co-operation proposal, and later on there will be discussions between the Management of the ASE and EURONEXT in Paris.

The Athens Stock Exchange judges the co-operation proposal with EURONEXT as a positive step, which will stimulate the developing plans of the Athens Stock Exchange and the Greek Capital Market and will be incorporated in a wider European and worldwide market that will better serve the capital needs of the companies and the needs of the Greek investors, while at the same time it will promote the country as a financial center of the area, keeping the best part of this united market for the benefit of the ASE and the Greek credit-financial sector.
