Alumil sponsors the exceptional documentary film "An Inconvenient Truth", of USA former Vice-President Al Gore, on the global, greenhouse effect. On Friday, May 11th, the unique documentary film "An Inconvenient Truth", ( http://www.climatecrisis.net), was projected at the Center of Sciences and Technology Museum, NOESIS, in Thessaloniki, under a F.I.N.G. (Federation of Industries of Northern Greece) initiative and Alumil sponsorship. Former U.S.A. Vice-President Al Gore' s production consists of an exceptional scientific reports and analysis quotation - gathering undisputed data from various places of our planet - regarding the world climate sudden changes which took place during the past years. The film focuses on Earth's global-warming, to the greenhouse effect, to the overall influence the natural sources waste and pollution cause to the environment. Mr. Al Gore has traveled to hundreds of places worldwide, aided by dozens of scientists, in order to present with a shocking way - with rich photo material and pictures - the disappearance of forests, rivers, lakes and glaciers internationally, due to global rise of temperature, with growth rates incomparably greater than the scientists' pessimistic forecasts. With accurate measurements, the film presents the rapid, undoubted rise in the average planet' s temperature during the last 30 years, compared to the previous 650.000 years! The film is directed by David Guggenheim and was projected, out of contest, in the Cannes festival.
The specific initiative is placed under the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) principles and policy adopted by the North-Hellenic profiles Group, defining a clear concentration on long-term economic growth with respect to the environment, using procedures with the lowest possible negative effects, lower than the international legislation standards. Many guests representing the business and cultural community of Thessaloniki honored the event with their active participation.
