In response to the letter received by the Capital Markets Commission on May 29th, 2006 Ref. No.: 2222, with regard to Press articles in the newspapers "Isotimia" and "Chrimatistirio" on May 27th, Proton Investment Bank S.A. (hereafter "Proton") announces that:

It has become aware that interested foreign strategic investors, among which IRF and Novator are included, are in an advanced stage of negotiations with a group of key shareholders of the company. In the event that these negotiations result in a final agreement, the relevant terms will be immediately notified to the Bank for disclosure to the investor public. Proton reiterates its commitment, which in any event is its obligation, to provide all relevant information to its shareholders in the event that there are further developments with respect to a strategic investor acquiring any stake in its share capital.
