Significant investments in IT and Energy
Info-Quest, following the sale of Q-Telecom adapts a growth strategy focusing in the area of IT solutions and to new areas such as energy production from renewable sources. Implementing this strategy, Info-Quest strengthens its IT solution business unit investing in human resources, infrastructure and product development. Furthermore, in October 2006, Info-Quest acquired 32.976% of UNISYSTEMS S.A. one of the major IT Services companies in Greece. Both companies are expected to have in 2006 sales of Euro 120 m in their IT Services and Solutions areas.
Info-Quest''s objectives in the IT services area are:
a. Its further strengthening in Greece, servicing big customers of the private sector (banks, telecoms) and the Public sector and
b. Its dynamic expansion to South Eastern Europe and mainly in the Balkans where Greek companies have significant presence and considerable foreign direct investment and EU funding is expected.
A far as the second area of strategic growth is concerned, the subsidiary company Quest Energy S.A. has been established which will develop and operate energy production parks from renewable energy sources (wind and solar). The company has signed a cooperation agreement with the French energy production company EDF Energy Nouvelles for the joint development and operation of wind farms. The first revenues from the energy sector are expected in 2008.2006 nine month period financial results of parent company Info-Quest are as follows:
(For comparison reasons, only the continuing activity i.e. IT is taking into account)
Sales reached Euro 195 m vs Euro 183 m and Earnings after Taxes reached Euro 1,7 m vs losses of Euro 0,7 m in 9mo 2005. It should be noted that in 2006 FY there are increased expenses related to the growth of new activities in Greece and abroad and expenses (Euro 750 th) required for the company to proceed with the share capital return of Euro 73 m. to shareholders.
9mo 2006 financial results are not comparable with 9mo 2005 results, because 9mo 2006 includes the outcome of the sale of the subsidiaries companies Q-Telecommunications S.A. and Computer Club S.A. The sale of Q-Telecommunications S.A. for Euro 330 m which concluded on January 31, 2006 has significantly affected the financials of the company and the Group. The after tax profit from Q Telecom''s sale (the discontinuing operation) that is included in 9mo 2006 financial results is Euro 235 m for the Group and the parent company.
After the share capital decrease and the respective cash return to the shareholders of Euro 73 m the financials of parent company Info-Quest on June 30, 2006 are: Own equity Euro 259 m., zero bank debt and Euro 49 m in cash.
The Group''''s Income Statement of 9mo 2006 -in the form that is published on the daily press- includes the financial results of Q-Telecommunications S.A. for the period Jan.1 - Jan 31, 2006.
Additionally, the Group''s and the company''s Income Statements of 9mo 2005 include the financial results of Q Telecom for the period Jan.1 - September 30, 2005 which is not included in 9mo 2006 Income Statement.
For this reason, 9mo 2006 Group and company results cannot be compared with these of 9mo 2005.
The management of the company advises the users of the company''''s and Group''''s financial results, to read the interim financial statements which are posted at the Company''''s Website (www.quest.gr).
In the above financial statements, the operating results of the discontinuing activities (Q-Telecom and Computer Club operations) have been reported separately, so that 9mo 2006 results can be compared with those of 9mo 2005.
Therefore, taking into account all the above notes, the Financial Results of Info-Quest Group for 9mo 2006 under I.F.R.S. (from continuing and discontinuing activities) are:
Consolidated Revenues of Euro 296 m vs. Euro 371 m Consolidated Earnings before Interest, Taxes anE.B.I.T.D.A.) of Euro 8 m vs. Euro 28 m.
