Agrotiki Life Insurance and the Association Generale de Retraites par Repartition (AG2R) have submitted a unique to the Greek standards suggestion to be discussed and looked into within the framework of the Greek argument on the reengineering of the social insurance system in Greece at a special meeting coordinated by professor Mr. D. Germides, former governor of NBG, that took place at a central Hotel in Athens

It concerns the management of supplementary and optional pensions additional health and welfare benefits, an extremely apposite issue in view of the new directive proposed by the European Union, which institutionalizes the role of similar organisms.

The operation of this system in France is based on the principle of partnership where the employers and employees who put forward the contributions assign, the under the supervision of the government management, of these funds to a specialized organism of their choice.

For this purpose this Organism suggests special retirement plans, adapted to the needs, wishes and capacities of the insured, in cases of enterprises as well as individual insured (a la Carte).

The operation of the system in France is regulated by a special act while it is favored owing to the entire tax-exempt for both parties' contributions.

AG2R's experience which exceeds half a century of life and whose activities were constantly supported by all post-war governments in France, its advanced expertise and its versatility in relation to the changing conditions of the economy and the job market, all guarantee a successful collaboration within the Greek territory as well. For that reason, as the Managing Director Mr Triantafyllos Lysimachou pointed out, that Agrotiki Life Insurance selected this first class French Organism in order to turn its invaluable know-how to the advantage of Greek policyholders.

During the stay of AG2R's Managing Director Mr. Jean Louis de Mourgues and Deputy Managing Director Mr. Jean Castagne, the terms of a collaboration protocol between the two organizations - later to be signed in Paris will be determined.

It is worth mentioning that AG2R is currently handling 170.000 collective companies contracts and 2.000.000 private contracts aided by a national and regional network of 700 administrators, 2.200 collaborators, 500 of whom are commercial advisors. Its turnout exceeds 3,5 billion Euro while its reserve fund reaches the amount of 5,5 billion Euro.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the General Federation of Greek Employees and the Federation of Greek Industries, Major Pension Funds Organizations, Ministries, Insurance Companies and others who were also invited.
