Announcement

Piraeus Bank S.A. announces that its 1rst Iterative Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders which was held on 26.2.2007 at 10:00 a.m. was attended by shareholders representing 74.984.174 shares out of a total of 270.195.031 shares, namely 27,75%. Due to lack of the quorum required by the Bank''s Articles of Association and Law 2190/1920, the Meeting did not discuss nor decide on the first item of the Agenda (Share capital increase by contribution of at least 308.872.139 and a maximum of 772.180.348 shares of "Marfin Popular Bank Public Co Ltd" and abolition of the preemptive right of current shareholders of Piraeus Bank S.A., in favour of the shareholders of the above mentioned company, who will accept the public offer made by Piraeus Bank S.A for the acquisition of a percentage of at least 40% and a maximum of 100% of its share capital).
The discussion and resolution on the second (Amendment of article 5 of the Articles of Association on the share capital) and third (Granting of relative authorizations to the Board of Directors of the Bank) items of the Agenda was also cancelled, since these resolutions directly depend on the resolution on the first item of the Agenda.
The Bank''s Board of Directors will meet within the legal deadlines to call the 2nd Iterative Extraordinary General Meeting.
