ELLINIKI TECHNODOMIKI TEB S.A. announces that the subsidiary AKTOR S.A. has contracted with the Municipality of Plovdiv, at the City Hall of Philipopolis (Plovdiv) in Bulgaria, the project for the Renovation and Upgrading of the city's Palace of Civilization and Culture (OPERA). The project involves the complete internal and external renovation, upgrading and modernization of the existing 15,000 m2 Palace of Civilization and Culture, built in 1960, in compliance with the European requirements for buildings intended for hosting cultural events. The Contract also includes the construction of a new automated underground mechanical parking lot for 600 cars at the square in front of the building's entrance that will accommodate the theatre as well as the wider area of the city centre. The project is to be completed within 30 months from the issuance date of the required building permits. The total cost amounts to 43,223,843.50 lev (euro 22,100,000). The design-study has been carried out by a group of Greek specialists, associates and executives of AKTOR S.A., who have extensive experience in similar high-specification projects, taking into consideration all modern needs as regards the lighting, the acoustics, the soundproof conditions, the heat insulation, the air-conditioning, the mechanical stage and stage lighting. The design-study has been awarded with the highest marks at the Public Design-Study - Construction Competition, ordered by the Municipality of Plovdiv for the project in reference, claiming contractor the joint-venture AKTOR S.A. - AKTOR BULGARIA S.A. After completion of the project, Philipopolis (Plovdiv) will have a new state-of-the-art and operating cultural events centre that will match the city's eminent reputation in matters of Civilization and Culture. AKTOR BULGARIA S.A. is by 100% subsidiary of AKTOR S.A. It was founded in the beginning of the current year and operates in Bulgaria. Its establishment and activity confirms AKTOR S.A.'s interest in the South-eastern European market.
