J&P-AVAX participates with a 25% stake in the "Alstom Transport SA - J&P-AVAX SA " consortium which signed on 29.08.2007 the contract for the project titled "Electrification of New Railway Section between Aharnes Rail Station (S.K.A.) and Kiato", worth a total of ?48 million.
The S.K.A.-Kiato railway section will be electrified by means of an overhead catenary line of latest 25KV / 50Hz technology, permitting operating speeds up to 200 km/h. Works concern railway lines totalling 229.3 km and include the study, design, supply, construction, operation and maintenance of the electrical power supply system, as well as the related SCADA system for connection to the national power grid. The project also includes landscaping works and maintenance around two power sub-stations.
The project has a 22 month deadline.
