Lavipharm announces the approval to market its fentanyl patch in Germany, the biggest transdermal fentanyl market in Europe, exceeding 290 mil Euros.
The approval in Germany is an important milestone, as it signifies the beginning of the product?s introduction into international markets. It also represents the first major step to its entry into the large European market, where annual transdermal fentanyl sales - according to IMS Health available data of March 2007 - reached 657 mil Euros.
The launch of the product in Germany is expected to take place within the second half of 2008, while it is already marketed in Greece. Moreover, additional regulatory approvals in many other European countries are ongoing and expected in the short to medium term. The commercial needs for the European market will be entirely met by Lavipharm?s plant in Peania, Greece.
