INTRACOM S.A. HOLDINGS
INTRASOFT International has undertaken new projects for the customs of Slovenia, Romania and Croatia.
Brussels, 17 January 2008. INTRASOFT International, a subsidiary of INTRACOM IT Services, in cooperation with IBM and other companies, has undertaken the implementation of the Excise Movement Control System (EMCS) for the goods that are subject to Special Consumption Tax Tariffs, in the Ministries of Finance of Slovenia, Romania and Croatia. The total value of the projects is euro 6m, while INTRASOFT's participation amounts to euro 2m.
The projects, which will be based on the X-eyes product that has been mutually developed by INTRASOFT International and IBM, concern the supply of the X-eyes product, the rendering of consulting services and the provision of services related to its implementation, adaptation and support in the abovementioned countries. Although the specific system only concerns the member countries of the European Union, it will also be implemented in Croatia prior to its accession, since this is required by the EU.
X-eyes provides IT support to the business functions that are related to the inspection of transportation of tobacco products, alcoholic beverages (including wine and beer), and energy products (petroleum, natural gas, electric energy etc.), between the countries of the EU and its aim is to crack on tax evasion. It allows the electronic exchange and the processing of information between the transacting parties (traders and distributors) with the customs, as well as the automated exchange of information between the customs of the EU. One of the most advanced technologies, BPEL (Business Process Execution Language), is used for its implementation.
It is worth noting that INTRASOFT International is the contractor of the European Commissions' Taxation and Customs Union General Directorate (DG TAXUD) for the implementation of the EMCS (EMCS-DEV project - worth euro 12m) and participates in a consortium for the implementation of e-customs (Cust-Dev project - worth euro 36m - INTRASOFT International participation amounts to euro 15m). Cust-Dev project will lead the customs of all member countries to be fully electronically interconnected, while the majority of the related bodies (exporters, importers, carriers etc.) is also expected to be connected to the system in the near future. In the field of Custom solutions INTRASOFT International is active since 1997 and has since then carried out the implementation of the largest cross European custom systems by implementing solutions in most of the European countries.
