The Hellenic Telecommunications Organization SA (OTE SA), attaches below the announcement issued today by its subsidiary in Romania, RomTelecom:
Romtelecom Board has approved today the business plan for 2008. This will focus on service quality, efficiency and innovation.
During 2007 the company succeeded to increase significantly market share in both residential and business clients on its broadband Internet and TV offerings while on the fixed segment achieved a premiere for the past three years: the stopping of its clients? base decrease.
In the last quarter of 2007, Romtelecom has reached a 4 times increase of the DSL monthly lines sales, compared with the first year half and an increase of over 3 times in VPN revenues compared with the previous year.
On DSL segment the evolution overcame the company estimates, thus at the end of the year the company registered over 360,000 clients, reaching over 20% market share on the fixed broadband segment. With a 280% increase, Romtelecom is leader in terms of growth rate on the Romanian broadband market. Dolce, the TV satellite service had a constant increase up to almost 400,000 customers, representing a market share of 8% of total pay TV market. The growth rate for Dolce television is one of the highest across Europe. On the fixed lines segment, Romtelecom continues to hold the first position, with approx. 70% market share, maintaining the number of clients around 3 million. In the second half of 2007 compared to the first half of the year, the number of new connections doubled. 2007 evolutions confirmed that client centric approach, accomplished through Customer 1st project, and the introduction of new services is a winning combination for the growth of Romtelecom. For 2008, Romtelecom strategy is aiming to improve efficiency and ensure for the company the basis for a solid future growth. ?We saw growth and evolution during 2007 but we need more focus on quality and efficiency in order to face the market challenges and the competition aggressively developing on all segments. During 2008 we will transform the way we do business, we?re looking for profitable growth and market leading quality,? said Mr. Yorgos Ioannidis, Romtelecom CEO. The strategic plans of Romtelecom involve improving internal processes, competitive service offering, in order to grow the customers base and increase the presence of the company in growing market segments, whilst the costs should be controlled in a very rigorous way. Implementation of the new business plan will require the redesign of the workflows and work methodologies, resulting in job reductions which will not exceed 2,500 positions during 2008. In parallel with the implementation of new processes meant to ensure more quality and speed to market with lower resources, Romtelecom will continue its Customer 1st Program to ensure added value in the relationship with the clients both on residential and business segments. For 2008 Romtelecom aims to have a healthy growth on the broadband& data segments, satellite TV, with an increase of the number of fixed telephony clients. Commercial cooperation with Cosmote will be further developed this year, resulting in more and better bundled offers for the customers, including mobile telephony. Romtelecom expects that these plans will insure a strengthening of the market position for the company in 2008, while 2009 and 2010 will deliver increasing profitability?
