ΜΕΤΚΑ IN A JOINT VENTURE WITH GENERAL ELECTRIC (GE) ANNOUNCED BIG ENERGY PROJECT FOR 850 Mwatt IN ROMANIA
The joint venture between ΜΕΤΚΑ-GENERAL ELECTRIC was announced preferred bidder in the international tender conducted by PETROM S.A., subsidiary of the multi-national colossus OMV-Austria, for the announcing of a contractor in respect of the construction of a 850Mw power plant in Petrobrazi of Romania.
Apart from Siemens, Alstom and Mitsubishi, ΜΕΤΚΑ also participated in the tender in joint venture with General Electric by 50%.
According to the decision of OMV/PETROM adopted yesterday, which was officially announced today, 23.01.08, the joint venture of G.E.-METKA was announced preferred bidder of the project. The negotiations for the finalization of the terms of the final agreement commence tomorrow, 24.01.08 in Vienna and are expected to be concluded in 3 weeks. During the negotiation period no further details concerning the offer or the agreement may be publicly announced.
Continuing in its outward orientation and development in foreign markets, ΜΕΤΚΑ is open to co-operation with international groups of companies and expects their aims to soon bring new projects.
