INTRALOT: ONE OF THE TOP EUROPEAN COMPANIES IN R&D INVESTMENT.
INTRALOT was listed at the "2008 EU Industrial Research & Development Investment Scoreboard" prepared and published by the European Commission, due to the significant capitals invested by the company in the Research and Development (R&D) field during 2007.
During the previous year, INTRALOT was one of the top corporations to invest in Research and Development in the European Union. Innovation is the Driving Force behind INTRALOT's Growth and Development, as it is in the company's philosophy to invest heavily on Research and Development. An average of 12% of its technology sales every year goes back to Research and Development. Originating from a purely technological Group and having accumulated sixteen years of R&D and operational experience in lotteries, INTRALOT name has become synonymous to innovation. INTRALOT's competitive advantage in this field is that it is a technologically autonomous company, and therefore has the ability to create economies of scale constantly increasing its sales worldwide.
The "2008 EU Industrial Research & Development Investment Scoreboard" revealed some important aspects of R&D investment. It is notable that the worldwide corporate R&D investment growth remains high at a percentage of 9%. All the companies included in the list increased their R&D investments on an average of 9% in 2007/8, compared to 10% in past year's Scoreboard and 7% in the year before. Altogether, they invested euros 379.3 billion in the last financial year.
The Scoreboard is part of the European Commission's monitoring activities to improve the understanding of trends in R&D investment by the private sector and the factors affecting it. The annual publication of the Scoreboard is intended to raise awareness of the importance of R&D for businesses and to encourage firms to disclose information about their R&D investments and other intangible assets.
