Marfin Investment Group announces the appointments of Messrs. Antonis N. Simigdalas and Stavros Daliakas to the team that is evaluating and preparing the company's strategic plans in the aviation industry.
Mr. Simigdalas is expected to assume the highest executive position in the group's airline company. He is one of the founders of Aegean Aviation and Airlines where between 1988 to 2009 he held the positions of General Manager, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Member of the Board. From 2004, he is the elected President of the European Regions Airlines Association. Mr. Simigdalas holds a Master's of Science degree from Cranfield University specializing in Air Transport Management and has worked there before 1988 as a Teaching and Research assistant. He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Transport in the UK, the Hellenic Institute of Transportation Engineers, was a VP of the Flight Safety Foundation (South-Eastern European branch), an authorized air accident investigator, an airplane and glider pilot since 1978.
Mr. Daliakas is expected to assume the position of Commercial Director in the group's airline company. He is one of the founding members of Aegean Airlines where he served as Commercial Director until recently. Previously, he was an executive of Olympic Airlines where he served as Sales and Distribution General Manager until 1998. Mr. Daliakas is a graduate of the Economics Department of Athens University (ASOEE) and has vast knowledge and experience in the fields of Aviation, Human Resource Management as well as the Greek Tourism and Travel sectors.
