The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs has awarded to Space Hellas the contract for the implementation of the National Visa Information System (N-VIS), following a public tender. The contract price amounts to 7.958 million €.
The National Visa Information System (N-VIS) is part of the European VIS system and aims at the efficient management of procedures for Visa issuance in European Union Member States. The VIS system allows EU member states to exchange data on visas. It includes a Central Visa Information System (C-VIS) and one National Visa Information System (N-VIS) for each Member State, which is interconnected with the central information system.
Within the framework of the project, Space Hellas will supply, install and put in operation the necessary IT infrastructure for the Athens national node and the Thessaloniki backup node. In addition, Space Hellas will supply, install and put in operation the IT and biometric equipment of the 130 Greek consular authorities situated all over the world.
Furthermore, Space Hellas will provide all the necessary installation, testing and training services during project implementation, as well as support and maintenance during system operation.
Through the N-VIS system and its harmonization with the relevant European system, the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs aims at accelerating the process of Visa issuance by the Greek consular authorities all over the world. It also aims at facilitating the verification of the Visa applicant's bona fide , carrying out authentication controls, at the facilitation of asylum applications procedures and at identifying and verifying the authenticity of the issued Visas.
