Announcement: I. STRATOS LEAVES THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS AFTER 11 YEARS OF SUCCESSFUL SERVICE - SEASONED ALUMINIUM EXECUTIVE SP. KASDAS TAKES ON AS NEW CHAIRMAN

ALUMINIUM S.A., a MYTILINEOS Group subsidiary, announces that Mr Iason Stratos will depart from the position of the Chairman of Board of Directors, a position which he held for the last 11 years. Mr. Stratos will remain as Lifelong Honorary Chairman of ALUMINIUM S.A., a position proposed to him by the Management of the MYTILINEOS Group as a small token of appreciation for his contribution.
Mr Stratos has a long and successful track record in the Greek industry, where he held various managerial positions from 1960 to 1981. He has also served as Chairman of the Hellenic Federation of Industries (SEV) from 1992 to 2000. Mr Stratos sits on the Boards of Directors of many Organisations and Companies and has been honoured with the medal of the Commandeur de l?Ordre National du M?rite of the French Republic.
ALUMINIUM S.A. wishes to extend its warmest thanks to Mr Stratos for his long contribution and loyalty to the Company, whose evolution he has helped seal with his experience, knowledge and business acumen.
The new Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr Sp. Kasdas, began his career in ALUMINIUM S.A. in 1969, serving first as Aluminium Production Manager and then as Primary Aluminium Research Manager for the Pechiney Group in France. In 1985 he took on the duties of Plant Manager for the Aluminium of Greece plant. He continued his career in the Pechiney Group as General Manager of the Australia-based Tomago aluminium production company, and as Technology Manager for the Primary Aluminium Line of the Pechiney Group and Alcan Group. Since September 2005 he assumed the duties of General Manager of the Metallurgy & Mining Operations of the MYTILINEOS Group and Managing Director of ALUMINIUM S.A., a post he held until the end of 2008.
From his new position as Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr Kasdas will continue to contribute to the development of ALUMINIUM S.A., putting to use his valuable experience which is the result of his 40 years of work and involvement in the aluminium industry.
