The company “ADMIE (IPTO) HOLDING S.A.” (or “Company”), informs that its affiliate, IPTO S.A., announced that the Dodecanese Interconnection is the new major Islands link that is incorporated in the new preliminary Ten-Year Network Development Program (TYNDP) of IPTO S.A. for the period 2020-2029. The new TYNDP foresees a total investment of 3.68 billion euros for the 10-year period (island interconnections, international interconnections, renovation of outdated equipment, expansion of the 400 kV system, upgrading of existing transmission lines, etc.).

In particular, the Dodecanese Interconnection, a project budgeted at 1.5 billion euros, is expected to be fully commissioned in 2027. It includes the Kos interconnection with the Mainland Transmission System through the new High Voltage Center in Corinth (for which the tender will be completed shortly) via a 380 km submarine cable with a transfer capacity of 900 MW. The island of Rhodes will be connected to Kos and the interconnection will be extended from Rhodes to the island of Karpathos. By these means an additional island "power corridor" will be created and allowing the Dodecanese to be reliably electrified by the Hellenic Electricity Transmission System (HETS), exploiting the RES potential, with significant environmental and socio-economic benefits.

The two phases of the Crete Interconnection with the Mainland System are in full development, as the interconnection between Crete and the Peloponnese was contractualised at the end of November 2018, and today the pre tender procedure for the technical specifications of the Crete - Attica Interconnection was launched via "Ariadne Interconnection". The two projects are expected to be commissioned in 2020 and 2022 respectively.

Regarding the Cycladic Islands Interconnections, Phases B and C are at a mature stage (works have started for both projects and are expected to be completed in 2019 and 2020 respectively). Next in line is Phase D which includes the interconnection of Santorini, Folegandros, Milos and Serifos. This project has a budget of 386 million euros and is expected to be completed in 2024.

The reliability of supply of the Sporades islands will be enhanced thanks to the interconnection of Skiathos with the system through the Mantoudi substation in Evia which will be completed in 2020.

The expansion of the 400 kV System to the Peloponnese is proceeding rapidly: "Corridor A" (Megalopoli - Patra-Acheloos) is expected to be completed in 2019, while the tenders for key sections of "Corridor B", (Megalopolis-Corinth Transmission Line) - which is expected to be fully commissioned in 2024 – are in progress.

Finally, an important item in the new TYNDP is the renovation of critical infrastructure with an estimated budget of 100 million euros within 2026, out of which 30 million euros concern the upgrading of the Koumoundouros substation which is expected to be completed within 2022.
