PRESS RELEASE :IDE’s Cooperation with AUTh in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS
Athens, Greece, 05 February 2018: IDE (INTRACOM Defense Electronics) and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) signed a contract for the development of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). In the frame of the agreement, IDE cooperates with the Laboratory of Fluid Mechanics and Turbomachinery of the Mechanical Engineering Department of AUTh.
More specifically, the AUTh has undertaken the design and study of the aeronautical and mechanical section, while IDE is the main contractor and responsible for the integration of all state of the art electronic, observation, data transfer and telemetry systems as well as for ground stations for command and control. In parallel, UAS will be a platform of incorporating products and services of other specialized Hellenic companies, while testing of the UAS is scheduled for the second half of 2018.
The aim of the cooperation is the best possible use of public and private resources and capabilities, exploiting to the maximum possible extent the high expertise and investments in the country.

Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh): The Laboratory of Fluid Mechanics and Turbomachinery (LFMT) of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the AUTh, develops research activities in the fields of aeronautics and aerial vehicles, aero engines and turbomachines. For more than 30 years, LFMT participates to large research projects in aeronautics and aero engines, co-funded by National and European Industries in the framework of Greek and European research programmes. The LFMT staff, laboratory infrastructures and computational resources generate innovative technology in aeronautics and aero engines, which is transferred to the undergraduate and post-graduate students of the AUTh Mechanical Engineering Department.
