Press Release - INTRASOFT International - the only company in Greece - successfully appraised for CMMI level 3

Luxembourg, October 4, 2012 - INTRASOFT International has been successfully appraised at Level 3 of the Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute's Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) for its software development projects in four locations (Luxembourg,Brussels,Athens,Bucharest). CMMI is a process improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes that ultimately improve their performance.

Being successfully appraised for CMMI level 3 is a major milestone for any company. INTRASOFT International is the only company in Greece to have achieved such an appraisal and the second (of 2) in Luxembourg, where the company headquarters are, the fourth (of 4) in Belgium and the third (of 4) in Romania, where it is also established. INTRASOFT International now joins the ranks of a global elite that have reached this high level of quality assurance and continuous improvement.

CMMI is a framework that describes the key elements of an effective software development process and its CMMI model describes an evolutionary improvement path from an ad hoc, immature process to a mature, disciplined process. CMMI covers best practices for planning, engineering and managing software development and maintenance.

An appraisal at maturity level 3 indicates the organization is performing at a “defined” level. At this level, processes are well characterized and understood and are described in standards, procedures, tools and methods. The organization's set of standard processes, which is the basis for maturity level 3, is established and improved over time. The results of the assessment are verified and reported by the prestigious Software Engineering Institute (SEI) of the Carnegie Mellon University, USA, which governs CMMI.

Many businesses that have adopted the CMMI model have beneficial results to their bottom line. The benefits that businesses have experienced include improvements in schedule and cost performance, product and service quality, forecasting accuracy, productivity, customer satisfaction, return on investment, and other measures of performance. CMMI establishes a baseline against which it is possible to judge, in a repeatable way, the maturity of an organisation's software process and compare it to the state of the practice of the industry.

Mr. Athanassios Kotsis, CEO of INTRASOFT International commented: “INTRASOFT international is once more a pioneer in its sector. The CMMI level 3 appraisal is an important reaffirmation of INTRASOFT International's total commitment to the satisfaction of all our stakeholders by enhancing collective performance at an organisational level. This appraisal enhances INTRASOFT International's standing as a world-class IT solutions and services provider.”
