Press Release - Significant Export Success and Recognition of INTRACOM Defense Electronics in Germany
Koropi, 10th of September, 2012: The intercommunication system WiSPR (Wideband Intercom & Secure Packet Radio) of INTRACOM Defense Electronics has been selected by German BWB (Federal Office of Defense Technology and Procurement) for military platforms of the German Army, following international competition.
The WiSPR system has been selected, to be part of the mid-term modernization program of the self-propelled howitzers PzH2000 of the German Army. The communications upgrade program will be implemented by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW). The reference vehicle upgrade starts in 2012, and it is planned to be followed by the serial vehicle conversion program, which will total about € 2.5 mil. for WiSPR.
WiSPR is a software controlled digital intercommunication system and incorporates its world class Dynamic Noise Reduction technology. WiSPR-DNR provides the user with the significant advantage of reduced noise related fatigue and increased crew safety, ensuring also high speech intelligibility during operations in high noise military vehicular environments. The system provides high quality voice communications, IP networking, as well as the capability of embedded wireless networking of voice, data and video, via the Secure Wireless Local Area Network WiSPR-WLAN. These, among other important features, provide WiSPR with significant competing advantages for a variety of military vehicles and networking applications.
