Semi - Annual Review of the FTSE/ATHEX Indices

Following the changes to the structure of ATHEX markets, the committee has approved a number of changes to the Ground Rules for the management of the FTSE/ATHEX Indices:

  • 1. The FTSE/ATHEX 20 and FTSE/ATHEX Mid Cap 40 Index constituents will be drawn from the Big Cap segment of ATHEX.
  • 2. The FTSE/ATHEX SmallCap 80 Index constituents will be drawn from the Medium and Small Cap segment of ATHEX
  • 3. The FTSE/ATHEX 140 Index will be broadened to include FTSE/ATHEX 20, FTSE/ATHEX Mid Cap 40 and FTSE/ATHEX SmallCap 80 constituents, plus other constituents of the Big Cap segment of ATHEX that meet the index eligibility requirements.

The above changes will be effective immediately, and implemented within the indices on Monday November 28.

At the same time the committee approved the constituents of the new FTSE/ATHEX International Index. FTSE/ATHEX International Index comprise all stocks that meet the eligibility requirements of the FTSE/ATHEX Indices and are eligible for the Big Cap segment of ATHEX. The index will commence calculation on Monday January 2 2006 at a value of 5,000 index points.

In addition the committee approved the following changes to the Ground Rules:
1. Eligibility for FTSE/ATHEX Indices to be broadened to include companies both listed on ATHEX and paying the majority of their corporate tax in Greece, rather than those specifically domiciled in Greece. The rule should be effective from April 2006 review.
2. The calculation of liquidity will exclude block trades, effective from November 2006 review.

Therefore, following the semi-annual meeting of the FTSE/ATHEX Index Advisory Committee on Tuesday 8 November 2005, the following changes were announced, to be implemented on Monday 28 November 2005 concurrent with the implementation of the new ATHEX Rule Book.

  • 1. For the FTSE/ATHEX 20, a total o one (1) addition, one (1) deletion from this index. One (1) investability weight change to existing constituents was approved.
  • 2. For the FTSE/ATHEX Mid 40, a total of five (5) additions, five (5) deletions from this index. Four (4) investability weight changes to existing constituents were approved.
  • 3. For the FTSE/ATHEX SmallCap 80, a total of twenty (20) additions, twenty (20) deletions from this index. No (0) investability weight changes to existing constituents were approved.
  • 4. For the FTSE/ATHEX 140, a total of twenty two (22) additions, eight (8) deletions from this index. One (1) investability weight change to existing constituents was approved.
