Opening session of 2017

This morning, at Athens Stock Exchange, took place the festive commencement of the 1st meeting of 2017 and, the traditional cutting of the New Year's cake followed.

The event attended market entities, representatives of Exchange and Business Sector and Athens Exchange Executives.

Their wishes and forecasts for the New Year gave Mr.:

• Sokratis Lazaridis, CEO of Athens Exchange Group
• Charalampos Gotsis, Chairman of Hellenic Capital Market Commission
• Georgios Chatzinikolaou, Deputy Chairman of Hellenic Banks Association
• Panagiotis Drakos, Chairman of Listed Companies Union  
• Spyridon Kyritsis, Chairman of Association of Members of the Athens Stock Exchange
• Simos Anastasopoulos, Chairman of Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce
• Giannis Polychroniou, Chairman of SEDYKA (Securities Mediation Services Companies Association)
• Charalampos Egglezos, Chairman of Internet Investors Association

All attendants, along with their wishes, expressed their optimism and hope for economy recovery and development on the following period and the contribution the Securities Commission may have at it. Many of them noticed, that there is a convergence regarding the solutions the available market financing tools may offer.

At the same time, all mentioned that the completion of evaluation b' by the Institutions and the fulfillment of conditions for our participation at the program of quantitative easing of the European Central Bank, forms the critical point of economy reversion for the market.

All ecosystem participants stated that the market role may be extended beyond the mature, to the new entrepreneurship too and may also play significant role at the reconstruction of the production field and finally, at the change of economy development standard.

The market capacity for funds raising has been proven in the past and recently. The available liquidity and the completely aligned regulatory and institutional framework with the European standards and the international practices, form the basic conditions for the Exchange to contribute financially to the businesses' needs. The successful coverages of 2016, both via the issuance of shares and corporate bonds, form the base of their further exploitation.
