Aegean Airlines Presents at the Association of Greek Institutional Investors
A corporate presentation of AEGEAN took place today by the management of the company at the Association of Greek Institutional Investors.
During the presentation, participants were briefed about the company's development from the start of its scheduled services in May 1999 until today. The presentation was focused on the company's strategy, traffic evolution, financial performance as well as the expansion of fleet and network.
AEGEAN is the largest Greek airline, transferring in 2009 more than 6.5 million passengers, a 10% rise compared to the previous year. More specifically, passengers on the company's domestic network reached 3.8 million in 2009, 2% higher compared to 2008 while passengers carried on the company's international network reached 2.8 million, 22% higher versus the previous year.
Management focused on the main advantages of the company, which are - among others - the fleet's age and homogeneity, the forthcoming entry to the Star Alliance in June 2010 and the acceptance by its passengers. At the same time, management underlined the challenges and difficulties of the period due to the economic and competitive environment.
